I have spent my whole career trying to help people feel better in their bodies. That has never changed.
From biomedical engineering to clinical orthotics to holistic practice, every step has been driven by the same question: how can I genuinely improve someone’s quality of life?

I grew up knowing I wanted to work in prosthetics. The idea that you could help someone walk again felt like the most meaningful thing I could imagine doing. At sixteen I had my mind made up, and I have never really looked back.
I studied Biomedical Engineering at the University of Limerick, graduating in 2011. From there I worked as a process design engineer at Boston Scientific in Clonmel before moving to Cook Medical in Limerick as a process improvement engineer. Making a difference in people’s lives for sure but I wasn’t getting to meet those people. I had not forgotten where I originally wanted to go.
When I walked into a prosthetics company with my CV and was told I had the wrong degree, I did not give up. I took a role as a manufacturing engineer at Creganna Medical in Galway, worked, saved, and when the time was right I went to the University of Salford in the UK to complete my BSc in Prosthetics and Orthotics. I got married while completing my degree and came home qualified, ready, and with a very patient husband.
I worked for seven years as a prosthetist and orthotist, seeing clients across Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork and Dublin. I loved the clinical work, the problem-solving, the detail, the moment when something clicked for a patient. But I found myself frustrated by a system that meant telling people what would help them and then watching them wait for funding that could take weeks or months to come. I wanted to be able to help people more directly. My commitment to the profession continues — I currently serve as a Director of the Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists Ireland, which recently became a Company Limited by Guarantee.
A phone call the day after my son was born was the turning point.
Throughout my engineering and clinical years I had been quietly struggling with IBS, anxiety and chronic headaches. A colleague introduced me to Reiki. I was sceptical but open. After my fifth or sixth session, the therapist asked how my headaches had been. I had to stop and think. I genuinely could not remember my last one. That was the moment something shifted for me.
I trained in Reiki for myself first, then began treating family and friends. The results kept surprising me.
Then in April 2023, the day after my third son was born, my husband and I got a phone call that changed everything. The childcare facility for our older boys (aged two and four at the time) was closing. Immediately. I was sitting on the couch, newborn in my arms, and suddenly everything I had been quietly turning over in my mind became very clear.
With my husband’s support (and his willingness to convert our garage) I completed a reflexology diploma during maternity leave. By the time I was due back from leave, 8ráBeo Holistics was ready. I have not looked back since.
Why 8ráBeo Holistics?
Grá means love. Beo means life. The 8 represents the infinity symbol so together it symbolises an infinite love of life. That is what I want for myself, for my family, and for every person who walks through my door.

What makes my practice different is not any single qualification. It is the combination; the engineering precision, the clinical experience, the holistic training, and the personal understanding of what it means to feel unwell and not quite know why. I bring all of that to every session as a clinician, a holistic therapist, and a mother of four (three boys and a girl) who understands firsthand how much energy it takes to show up for everyone else when you are not feeling your best.
If you have questions before booking, please get in touch. I am always happy to have a conversation first.
